Vintage Japanese Porcelain Serving Set, 7 Pieces, Transferware Landscape Design

A vintage Japanese porcelain serving set comprising one large octagonal platter and six matching side plates, likely dating from the mid-20th century. Each piece is decorated with a detailed transfer-printed landscape featuring a traditional riverboat, pine trees, flowering peonies and a large moon above the water.

The muted cobalt blue, iron red, soft green and pink palette is framed by an ornate patterned border, giving the set a decorative appearance while retaining the balanced style associated with Japanese export porcelain. The platter carries an impressed Japanese seal-style mark with “JAPAN” beneath it. The smaller plates appear to be unmarked.
