Antique Japanese Koransha Imari-Style Leaf-Shaped Porcelain Dish with Fan and Floral Decoration, Early 20th Century
Koransha · Early 20th Century
An unusual antique Japanese Koransha porcelain dish, crafted in Arita during the early 20th century. Finely formed in the shape of a stylised leaf, the dish features a softly scalloped outline and a small opening near one end, allowing it to be displayed as a decorative wall piece or presented on a stand.
The surface is richly decorated in an Imari-style palette of cobalt blue and iron red on a pale porcelain ground. Overlapping fan-shaped panels are filled with floral and foliate motifs, while further blossoms and scrolling leaves extend across the surrounding border. The dense hand-painted decoration and distinctive asymmetrical form give the piece a strong decorative presence.
The underside bears a blue underglaze Koransha orchid mark.

Historical and Collector Context
Koransha is a recognised Arita porcelain manufacturer established during the Meiji period. Founded in 1875 by Eizaemon Fukagawa and his partners, the company became known for producing finely crafted Japanese porcelain for both domestic and international markets. Its name refers to the fragrant orchid, reflected in the distinctive orchid emblem used on its wares.
This early 20th-century dish is particularly appealing for its unusual leaf-shaped form, layered Imari-style fan panels and richly detailed floral decoration. The Koransha orchid mark adds further collector interest, while the generous size and asymmetrical outline make the piece especially attractive as a cabinet display or decorative wall plate.
All items are vintage or antique and may show light signs of age. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description. Feel free to message with any questions prior to purchase.
