Pair Vintage Japanese Soko China Satsuma-Style Porcelain Bowls, c. 1920s–1930s

Soko China · 1920s–1930s

$210AUD

A refined pair of vintage Japanese Soko China porcelain bowls, hand-painted in the Satsuma style and likely dating to the late Taisho or early Showa period, circa 1920s–1930s. Each bowl features a delicately rendered Japanese landscape with traditional houses, pine trees, flowing water and softly layered mountains, enhanced with gilt accents and a warm ivory-toned glaze.

The gently lobed, pinched rims give the bowls an elegant petal-shaped form, while the hand-painted landscapes continue across both the interior and exterior surfaces. Fine crackle glazing adds further period character and complements the muted green, blue, rust and gold palette.

Both bowls are marked to the base with the Soko China mark and “Hand Painted SATSUMA,” identifying them as Japanese export porcelain produced for the Western market. Their small scale, balanced form and detailed decoration make them attractive display pieces for collectors of Japanese porcelain, Satsuma-style ceramics and early 20th-century export ware.
