Pair of Antique Japanese Satsuma-Style Geisha Demitasse Cups and Saucers, Early 20th Century
Early 20th century
A decorative pair of antique Japanese Satsuma-style demitasse cups and saucers, dating to the early 20th century, likely the late Meiji to Taisho period. Each piece is decorated with a seated geisha figure, floral motifs, cobalt blue borders and gilt detailing over a characteristic crackle-glazed surface. The small scale, warm palette and visible age-related wear give the set an appealing antique presence.

Historical and Collector Context
Japanese Satsuma-style ceramics were widely produced for the export market during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Crackle glazes, cobalt accents, gilt decoration and figural scenes were popular features of these decorative wares. Small cups and saucers of this type are particularly attractive as display pieces and offer an accessible example of early Japanese export ceramics.
