Antique Japanese Imari Polychrome Bowl β Arita Peony & Noshi Ribbon Motif
Japan Β· c. 1850-1880
Vibrant hand-painted Imari bowl from Aritaβs kilns, late-Edo/early-Meiji era. Inside, gilt-outlined peonies, scrolling noshi ribbons and diaper trellis pattern sit against a milky white ground; the cavetto is edged in iron-red. The exterior shows classic underglaze-blue scallop waves with dotted tassels and a narrow stylised lotus band on the raised foot. The recessed base is finished with the characteristic iron-brown glaze long favoured by 19α΅Κ°-century Imari potters. A well-balanced 18.5 cm display or serving piece that bridges functional ware and fine art.
