Vintage Italian 800 Silver Hand Bell with Ornate Rococo Revival-Style Handle
Mid-20th century
A finely crafted vintage Italian 800 silver hand bell featuring an elegant decorative form and an ornate Rococo Revival-style handle. Measuring approximately 14 cm in height, the bell combines a polished tapered body with a richly detailed scalloped rim, engraved ornamental borders and an openwork handle decorated with flowing scrolls and shell motifs.
The fluted central stem rises to an elaborate pierced terminal, giving the bell a refined sculptural presence. The original clapper remains in place, and the bell produces a clear ringing tone. With its substantial silver weight and excellent vintage condition, it is an appealing decorative object for display on a desk, side table or within a curated collection of Continental European silver.

Historical and Collector Context
Decorative silver hand bells were created as both practical and ornamental objects, often intended for domestic use, desk display or presentation. Italian silver workshops produced a wide range of decorative objects in the 800 silver standard during the 20th century, frequently combining traditional European motifs with finely worked cast and engraved details.
This example is particularly attractive for its substantial height, scalloped lower rim and elaborate openwork handle. The scrolling and shell-inspired decoration reflects the continuing influence of Rococo Revival design on European decorative silver. Although the maker’s mark is rubbed and cannot currently be attributed to a specific workshop, the visible 800 fineness stamp confirms the silver standard.
All items are vintage or antique and may show light signs of age. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description. Feel free to message with any questions prior to purchase.
