Historical and Collector Context

Russian 84 zolotnik silver is equivalent to .875 silver purity and was widely used in Imperial and early 20th-century Russian silverwork. The Kokoshnik mark, showing a female head in traditional headdress, was introduced as part of the Russian hallmarking reforms at the end of the 19th century. The later right-facing Kokoshnik mark was used from 1908 into the early Soviet period.

This sugar bowl reflects the Russian tradition of decorative tea table silver, particularly pieces associated with samovar service. Its twisted fluted body, beaded foot and hinged handle give it both practical function and strong display appeal.

With its substantial 188.4 gram weight, 84 silver standard, early 20th-century Kokoshnik hallmarking and attractive form, this bowl would suit collectors of Russian silver, 84 zolotnik silver, samovar tea service pieces, antique sugar bowls or Eastern European decorative arts.

All items are vintage or antique and may show light signs of age. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description. Feel free to message with any questions prior to purchase.
