Historical and Collector Context

German silver produced around the turn of the 20th century frequently combined traditional revival styles with the high level of decorative craftsmanship associated with Continental European tableware. Rococo Revival designs remained particularly popular for centrepieces and presentation objects, drawing on the scrolling curves, shell motifs, floral ornament and decorative cartouches associated with 18th-century European silver.

This substantial bowl was made by D. Aron and bears the German crescent moon and crown national silver marks together with an 800 fineness stamp and pattern number 95396. The national marking system confirms German origin and indicates that the bowl was made from an alloy containing 80% pure silver.

Its considerable weight, large display size, elaborate double handles and richly modelled pedestal base make it an appealing statement piece for collectors of German silver, European decorative arts and historic tableware.

All items are vintage or antique and may show light signs of age. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description. Feel free to message with any questions prior to purchase.
