Vintage Norwegian 830 Silver Serving Spoon by Brødrene Mylius – Tele Pattern
Brodrene Mylius · Mid-20th century
A refined vintage Norwegian serving spoon crafted in solid 830 silver by Brødrene Mylius of Kragerø, Norway, in the distinctive Tele pattern.
The spoon features a generously proportioned oval bowl and an elegant pierced handle decorated with flowing scroll motifs. The openwork design gives the piece a strong decorative character while preserving its practical function as a serving utensil for vegetables, side dishes, sauces or desserts.
The Tele pattern is a recognised Norwegian silver flatware design produced by Brødrene Mylius and admired for its richly worked pierced handles. Smaller tableware pieces are more frequently encountered, while serving pieces remain particularly useful additions for collectors completing an existing Tele-pattern service.
The Brødrene Mylius Connection
The reverse of the handle bears the clearly preserved 830S silver standard mark, the Brødrene Mylius seagull-on-a-rock emblem and the letters NM.
The NM mark stands for Norsk Mønster and indicates a Norwegian registered design or design-copyright mark. Together, these marks identify the spoon as a genuine example of Brødrene Mylius Norwegian silverware.
Founded in Kragerø in 1932, Brødrene Mylius became associated with the production of silver flatware and tableware. The Tele pattern remains one of the firm’s recognisable designs, combining traditional Scandinavian ornament with practical everyday use.
