Historical and Collector Context

Yogya silver, also known as Djokja or Jogja silver, developed as a distinctive Javanese decorative tradition centred around Yogyakarta and the nearby silversmithing district of Kota Gede. From the 1930s onward, local workshops produced hand-finished silver objects for both domestic and international buyers, often combining traditional floral motifs with practical tableware forms suited to Western households.

The 800MD mark indicates .800 silver and an MD workshop mark commonly associated with Yogya silver production. This matched set is particularly appealing for its practical size, cohesive presentation and richly decorated repoussé borders. The three dishes may be displayed together or used individually as small serving dishes, bonbon dishes or trinket trays.

All items are vintage or antique and may show light signs of age. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description. Feel free to message with any questions prior to purchase.
