Vintage Chinese Famille Rose Covered Ginger Jar Qianlong Mark Yellow Ground
China · Mid-late 20ᵗʰ century
Charming petite famille-rose ginger jar with domed cover, enamelled in bright Canton palette enamels on a lemon-yellow scroll ground. Each heart-shaped reserve portrays a young scholar or attendant reading beside tray tables and bonsai, while pink ruyi scrollwork rings the shoulders and foot. A red over-glaze seal to the base reads 「乾隆年製」 (Qianlong nian zhi – “Made during the Qianlong period”) but the piece is a 20ᵗʰ-century decorative homage, ideal for adding a splash of colour to shelves or spice cupboards. One very small chip (<4 mm) to the inner rim, otherwise excellent.
