Vintage Australian APEX Sterling Silver Napkin Ring by G & E Rodd, Art Deco c.1930s–1940s
G & E Rodd · circa 1930s–1940s
A refined vintage Australian sterling silver napkin ring by G & E Rodd of Melbourne, bearing the firm’s APEX trade mark and dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930s–1940s.
Crafted in solid sterling silver, the oval-form serviette ring is decorated with a finely engraved wavy-line pattern across the outer surface. A central diamond-shaped cartouche is engraved with the initials “J.W.H.”, adding a sense of personal history and character to the piece.
The interior is clearly marked STERLING SILVER APEX. The APEX trade mark was used by the Melbourne firm G & E Rodd, one of Australia’s recognised 20th-century jewellery and silverware manufacturers.
With its attractive geometric engraving, substantial silver weight and Australian maker interest, this napkin ring would make an appealing addition to a collection of vintage table silver, Australian decorative arts or Art Deco dining accessories.
