A fine antique George V sterling silver tazza by E.S. Barnsley & Co, hallmarked in Sheffield in 1912.
This elegant early 20th-century footed dish has a lobed circular bowl with a softly scalloped rim, raised on a plain pedestal foot. The balanced proportions and clean silver surface give the piece a refined table presentation, suitable for serving fruit, sweetmeats, small cakes or for use as a decorative centrepiece.
The tazza is crafted in solid sterling silver and weighs a substantial 227.7 grams. It is fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1912, with the maker’s mark of E.S. Barnsley & Co, the firm of Edward Souter Barnsley. Although assayed in Sheffield, the maker was associated with Birmingham silver production, with workshops recorded at Frederick Street, Birmingham.
