Historical and Collector Context

Mustard pots formed part of traditional British table settings and were often designed with removable glass liners to protect the silver interior from condiments. Cobalt blue liners became a particularly attractive feature, creating a strong visual contrast with the polished silver exterior.

This example dates to 1924, during the reign of George V, and retains its original-style cobalt blue glass liner. It is accompanied by a later sterling silver spoon made by Adie Brothers Ltd and hallmarked for Birmingham 1949. Although the spoon is not contemporary with the pot, it complements the piece well and creates a complete, ready-to-use table set.
