Vintage Royal Copenhagen Apple Blossom Porcelain Vase 53/51, Denmark

Royal Copenhagen · c. 1950s-60s

$145AUD

An elegant vintage Royal Copenhagen porcelain vase, model 53/51, featuring a delicate floral design commonly known as Apple Blossom. Dating to the mid-20th century, likely circa 1950s–1960s, the vase has a softly rounded baluster form with a slender neck and gently flared rim.

The hand-painted underglaze decoration features white blossoms and muted green leaves against a serene gradient ground that transitions from pale grey to soft sky blue. The restrained palette and naturalistic floral composition give the vase a refined Scandinavian character suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

The underside bears the Royal Copenhagen three-wave mark, model number 53/51, decorator’s markings and its original paper label. The vase is a first-quality example.

Historical and Collector Context

Royal Copenhagen has produced hand-decorated Danish porcelain since the 18th century and is recognised for its refined craftsmanship and distinctive three-wave factory mark. The marks applied to the underside of each piece include the Royal Copenhagen waves and painter’s markings, helping to identify the origin and individual production history of the porcelain.

This first-quality model 53/51 vase is particularly appealing for its generous 21.5 cm height, softly graduated blue ground and naturalistic apple blossom decoration. Its original paper label, excellent condition and versatile form make it an attractive addition to a collection of Royal Copenhagen porcelain or a refined decorative accent for the home.
