Japanese Satsuma Moriage Vase 24.5cm Geisha Boat Scene Gilt Detail Showa Era

$145AUD

Striking hand-painted Japanese Satsuma-style vase from the early Showa period (circa 1930s–1950s), featuring exquisite moriage enamel work and raised gilt decoration. This tall 24.5 cm vase showcases a vibrant continuous scene of geisha and attendants aboard a boat, surrounded by mountainous landscapes and willow trees. Rich floral panels in burgundy and gold separate the scenes, with intricate dot-textured backgrounds and patterned medallions around the neck.

Marked “SATSUMA” in red on the base—an export mark typical of mid-20th-century Japanese porcelain. Often mistaken for Chinese, this is an authentic Japanese piece made for Western collectors, notable for its craftsmanship and decorative appeal.
