Historical and Collector Context
Silver fish slices became an elegant feature of formal dining during the Georgian period. Their broad pierced blades allowed juices to drain during serving, while the decorative openwork gave silversmiths an opportunity to create visually distinctive designs.
William & Samuel Knight worked in London during the early 19th century and produced refined silver tableware during the George III period. This 1811 example is particularly attractive for its detailed central fish motif, substantial weight and clearly preserved period character.
Suitable for a collection of Georgian silver, antique British tableware or marine-themed decorative objects, it would also make a distinctive gift for a collector or fishing enthusiast.
