Historical and Collector Context
GAB, or Guldsmedsaktiebolaget, was one of Sweden’s well-known silver and metalware firms, active across the 20th century and associated with Scandinavian silver, nickel silver, pewter and design objects.
Wine tasters, also known as tastevins or vinprovare, were traditionally used to examine the colour, clarity and appearance of wine. The shallow bowl and reflective interior allowed wine to be viewed under changing light, while the thumb handle made the piece easy to hold.
This 1974 Swedish example combines traditional wine-tasting form with clean Scandinavian design. Its clear GAB maker’s mark, Swedish silver hallmarks, .830 silver standard and excellent condition make it appealing to collectors of Swedish silver, Scandinavian design, wine accessories, sommelier tools or vintage European table silver.
All items are vintage or antique and may show light signs of age. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description. Feel free to message with any questions prior to purchase.
