Early 20th Century American Weighted Sterling Silver Trumpet Vase by Baker-Manchester Mfg. Co
Baker-Manchester Mfg. Co. · Early 20th Century
An early 20th-century American weighted sterling silver trumpet vase by Baker-Manchester Mfg. Co. of Providence, Rhode Island. The vase has a tall, slender trumpet form with a flared rim, a gently faceted stem and a broad circular foot, creating an elegant profile suited to the display of a single flower or a small arrangement.
The underside is clearly stamped “Cement Filled Base”, “Sterling” and “0299”, together with the maker’s winged emblem. As is typical of weighted silver vases from this period, the base is filled to provide stability; the stated weight therefore represents the complete vase rather than the weight of the sterling silver alone.
