Vintage Cropp & Farr 9ct Yellow Gold Monogram Chain-Link Cufflinks, Birmingham 1948

C&F · 1948

$1,825AUD

A substantial pair of vintage English 9ct yellow gold cufflinks, hallmarked in Birmingham in 1948 and bearing the C&F sponsor’s mark attributed to Cropp & Farr.

Each cufflink is formed from two softly rectangular panels with rounded corners, joined by traditional gold chain links. One face of each cufflink is engraved with an elegant intertwined monogram, while the reverse panel is left plain. The contrast between the personalised engraving and the understated polished surfaces gives the pair a distinctive mid-century character.

With a combined weight of approximately 11.5 g, the cufflinks have a reassuring presence and are suitable for formal wear, a wedding ensemble or a collection of vintage British men’s jewellery.

Historical and Collector Context

Cropp & Farr was a British jewellery firm established in London in 1917 and active throughout the 20th century. Jewellery bearing the C&F mark includes a variety of well-made brooches, earrings, rings, bracelets and cufflinks.

Traditional double-sided chain-link cufflinks remained a classic choice for mid-20th-century formal dress. The clear Birmingham hallmarks, substantial gold weight and engraved monogram give this pair an appealing sense of period character.
