Antique George V Sterling Silver Mustard Pot by Atkin Brothers, Sheffield 1913, with Associated Spoon
Atkin Brothers · 1913
A charming antique George V sterling silver mustard pot by Atkin Brothers, hallmarked in Sheffield in 1913, accompanied by an associated sterling silver mustard spoon by Francis Howard Ltd.
The mustard pot has a classic rounded bulbous body, hinged lid with spoon notch, elegant scroll handle and three shaped pad feet. Its compact form and polished silver surface give it a refined early 20th-century English table silver character.
The accompanying spoon is hallmarked Sheffield 1912 by Francis Howard Ltd. Although not original to the mustard pot, it complements the piece well and completes the set for display.

Historical and Collector Context
Atkin Brothers was a well-known Sheffield silversmithing firm associated with Truro Works, Matilda Street. The firm produced a wide range of silver, electroplate, cutlery and domestic tableware throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Mustard pots were a regular feature of the British dining table, especially from the 18th century onwards when prepared wet mustard became more common. Silver mustard pots were often fitted with glass liners to protect the silver interior from mustard or salt contact. This example is offered without its liner, which should be noted for practical use, but it remains attractive as a collectible George V silver condiment piece.
The combination of Atkin Brothers Sheffield hallmarking, a classic hinged mustard pot form and an associated Francis Howard Ltd spoon makes this a pleasing addition to a collection of British table silver, condiment wares or early 20th-century Sheffield silver.
All items are vintage or antique and may show light signs of age. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description. Feel free to message with any questions prior to purchase.
