Historical and Collector Context
Fordham & Faulkner was a Sheffield silversmithing partnership established in 1896 by William Charles Fordham and Albert Faulkner. The firm produced a range of well-crafted English silver tableware and decorative items during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods.
This salt cellar was assayed in Sheffield in 1898 and carries the traditional crown assay mark used by the Sheffield office, together with the lion passant for sterling silver and the date letter “F”. Its cobalt-blue glass liner is both visually appealing and practical, helping to protect the silver interior from direct contact with salt.
