Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Napkin Ring by William Devenport, Birmingham 1903
William Devenport · 1903
A charming antique Edwardian sterling silver napkin ring by Birmingham silversmith William Devenport, fully hallmarked for 1903.
Crafted in solid sterling silver, the ring has a decorative circular form with raised scrolling foliate ornament, a softly scalloped profile and finely milled borders. The detailed relief work gives the piece a particularly attractive presence despite its compact proportions.
The ring carries a hand-engraved name on each side: “Winsome” on one face and “Mabel” on the reverse. These inscriptions add a personal sense of history and character to the piece, making it an appealing example of Edwardian table silver with an individual story.
With its clear Birmingham hallmarks, decorative design and excellent antique condition, the napkin ring would make an attractive addition to a collection of English silver, antique tableware or small personalised heirloom pieces.
