Historical and Collector Context
Atkin Brothers was a well-established Sheffield silversmithing firm, active through the Victorian and early 20th-century periods and known for producing quality British silver tableware and cutlery. Sheffield was one of Britain’s major silver and cutlery centres, with makers such as Atkin Brothers supplying both domestic and export markets.
Mustard pots were an important part of the Victorian dining table and were often fitted with blue glass liners to protect the silver from staining while adding decorative contrast. Pierced silver examples with cobalt liners remain especially attractive to collectors of British table silver and antique condiment wares.
This 1892 example combines a pierced sterling silver body, engraved hinged lid, original blue glass liner and an associated later sterling silver spoon, making it a charming addition to a collection of Victorian silver, Sheffield silver, cruet pieces or traditional dining accessories.
All items are vintage or antique and may show light signs of age. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description. Feel free to message with any questions prior to purchase.
