Antique Japanese Satsuma Plates by Takura Shirō Hand Painted Gilded Floral Pair

Takura Shirō Hand Painted Gilded Floral Pair

$185AUD

Exquisite pair of antique Japanese Satsuma plates signed by renowned artist Takura Shirō (田倉士郎), dating to the late Taisho to early Showa period. Each plate is delicately hand-painted with a profusion of vibrant peonies, chrysanthemums, and detailed foliage in rich enamels and heavy gold gilt. The intricate floral composition is further enhanced by a fine crackle glaze typical of authentic Satsuma ware. The borders are finished with a traditional geometric pattern in gold, adding elegance and balance to the intricate central scene.

These collectible plates are signed on the reverse with the original artist’s red seal mark in gilt script on a dark red ground. Beautifully preserved with no chips, cracks, or repairs, they make a striking decorative display or refined addition to any Japanese porcelain collection.
