Antique Japanese Satsuma Incense Burner Koro Hand-Painted Shishi Lion Finial

$320AUD

Beautifully detailed antique Japanese Satsuma incense burner (koro) dating from the late Meiji to early Taisho period (c. 1890–1920). This charming piece features meticulously hand-painted scenes depicting serene landscapes with traditional pavilions, lush foliage, and intricate geometric borders, all highlighted with delicate gold-gilt accents. Distinctive lion-mask (shishi) handles adorn each side, complemented by a finely modelled shishi lion finial on the pierced lid. The base bears an elegant gold rectangular cartouche marked “薩摩” (Satsuma), indicative of quality Satsuma export porcelain produced for the Western market.
