Antique Japanese Kutani Tripod Censer by Meizan, Hand Painted Gilt Kaga Ware

Meizan

$580AUD

Exquisitely hand-painted antique Japanese Kutani censer featuring detailed figural and floral motifs in gold and iron red. This rare tripod-footed vessel is crafted in the traditional Kaga region style, with elaborate imagery of immortals on one side and a phoenix among chrysanthemums on the other. Lavishly decorated in moriage and gilt accents, this piece is signed underneath with the Kutani workshop mark “Made by Matsubara, Painted by Meizan” (松原製 明山画), a noted Kutani artist from the early 20th century. A striking and refined example of Meiji to early Showa period Japanese porcelain.
