Antique George III Sterling Silver Cream Jug, Nathaniel Appleton & Anne Smith, London 1772
Nathaniel Appleton & Anne Smith · 1772
A finely crafted antique George III sterling silver cream jug by the documented London silversmith partnership of Nathaniel Appleton & Anne Smith, hallmarked London 1772. More than 250 years old, this elegant Georgian silver creamer has a rounded baluster body, raised pedestal foot, delicately beaded borders and an open scroll handle.
The jug is a particularly representative example of the partnership’s work, as Nathaniel Appleton and Anne Smith specialised in small silver tableware, including cream jugs and salt cellars.
