Historical and Collector Context:
James Dixon & Sons was one of Sheffield’s important silver, silverplate and metalware manufacturers, with roots dating back to the early 19th century. The firm became known for well-made tableware, hollowware and practical domestic silver, supplying both the British market and export customers.

These sugar tongs represent the refined but practical side of Edwardian silver: elegant enough for formal tea service, yet modest and functional in scale. Fully hallmarked small sterling pieces such as this remain popular with collectors because they are easy to display, useful, and carry a clear maker and assay history.

A lovely Edwardian sterling silver piece for collectors of Sheffield silver, antique tea accessories or traditional English tableware.
