Antique E.J.D. Bodley Imari-Style Porcelain Oval Dish, Burslem, c.1876
Edwin James Drew Bodley · c1876
A refined antique Victorian porcelain oval dish by Edwin James Drew Bodley, dating to approximately 1876. The compact form is decorated in an Imari-inspired palette of cobalt blue, iron red and gilt, with alternating foliate and geometric motifs extending around the gently shaped sides.
The white interior provides an elegant contrast to the richly decorated border, while the fine gilt edging adds a delicate finishing touch. Measuring 14.5 cm in length, the dish is particularly suitable for display in a cabinet or for use as a small trinket, jewellery or pin dish.
The underside bears a crowned E.J.D.B. mark together with hand-painted pattern numbers.

This circa 1876 oval dish is an attractive small example of Bodley’s decorative porcelain, combining a practical form with an elegant Imari-inspired palette and refined gilt detailing. Its compact size makes it particularly appealing for cabinet display or as a decorative accent within a collection of Victorian English ceramics.
