Antique Burmese Silver Belt Buckle with Repoussé Dancing Deities, c.1900
Late 19th to early 20th century
A finely worked antique Burmese silver belt buckle, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, circa 1900. The compact rectangular form is richly decorated in repoussé with two dancing deities or figures, framed by scrolling foliage, geometric borders and finely worked ornamental details.
The raised figural composition creates a strong sense of movement and depth, while the surrounding floral and scroll motifs reflect the intricate hand craftsmanship associated with Burmese silverwork of the period. The reverse retains its secure fastening mechanism, allowing the piece to be appreciated as both a functional dress accessory and a decorative collector object.
The buckle is unmarked but has been acid-tested as sterling-grade silver.

Historical and Collector Context
Burmese silverwork of the late 19th and early 20th centuries is admired for its deeply worked repoussé decoration, intricate chasing and figural imagery. Silversmiths frequently used raised scenes, scrolling foliage and symbolic motifs to transform practical objects into richly decorative pieces.
This buckle is particularly appealing for its compact but visually strong presentation, figural decoration and well-preserved fastening mechanism. Its unmarked but tested silver construction, antique age and finely worked relief make it an attractive addition to a collection of Burmese silver, Southeast Asian decorative arts or antique dress accessories.
All items are vintage or antique and may show light signs of age. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description. Feel free to message with any questions prior to purchase.
