Historical and Collector Context
Haseler Brothers was a Birmingham silversmithing firm founded in 1888 by Edward John Haseler and Noble Haseler. The company became associated with the production of quality silver tableware and decorative objects and maintained a showroom in London’s Hatton Garden district.
Salt cellars were an established feature of formal British dining services, and blue glass liners were both practical and decorative. The removable liners helped protect the silver interiors while creating a rich visual contrast with the polished metal.
Dating to 1913, during the reign of George V, this pair combines clearly documented London hallmarks, a recognised maker, substantial silver weight and an elegant decorative treatment. The cobalt blue liners, lion monograms and accompanying EPNS spoons give the set a complete and particularly attractive presentation.
