Antique B. H. Joseph & Co. 18ct Yellow Gold Dress Studs, Hallmarked Birmingham 1926

Barnet Henry Joseph · 1926

$845AUD

A refined pair of antique English 18ct yellow gold dress studs, hallmarked in Birmingham in 1926 and bearing the B.H.J. maker’s mark attributed to B. H. Joseph & Co.

Each stud is designed in a traditional button form with a plain circular face, a short fixed stem and a rounded back. The restrained design allows the warm colour of the 18ct yellow gold and the historic British hallmarks to remain the focus.

Compact and understated, the pair would make an appealing addition to a collection of antique men’s jewellery or a distinctive formal dress accessory with genuine period character.

Historical and Collector Context

B. H. Joseph & Co. was a Birmingham manufacturing and wholesale jewellery firm established in 1865. Based in the Jewellery Quarter, the company produced a range of gold and silver jewellery and decorative objects for the British and international markets.

Dress studs were traditional formal accessories designed to provide a discreet and polished finishing detail to a gentleman’s evening attire. The clear Birmingham hallmarks, 18ct gold standard and B.H.J. maker’s mark give this pair an appealing connection to early 20th-century British jewellery craftsmanship.
